An artist party in New York, a betrayed boyfriend, techno, and a loud bombshell. Those are the ingredients for a great evening. And to think, I didn’t even want to go out – I had planned for a quiet TV night.
New York, somewhere around 20th Street in the west. Irene dragged me to an artist party. Normally, these are boring, and I didn’t even want to go. The flyer said you should wear red, or at least something with a red accent. At the party, everything was red. Is that supposed to be art? Later, I found out that the artist isn’t even an artist – he’s an art dealer. He told me that sometimes he clears out the paintings from his storage space (an old loft) to host parties. The red theme? Just an idea, he said.
After a few conversations, I sat bored on a couch in the hallway. Techno thumped from the living room, and people danced. I sipped a beer, watched the crowd, and decided to roll a joint. A girl sat next to me, watching. I hadn’t noticed her at first, but when I looked, she was grinning. I smiled back and invited her to smoke with me.
“What do you do? Where are you from?” The usual small talk. She told me she works as a bartender at Coyote Ugly. Then she stood up. “I’m going to dance,” she said with a flirtatious smile. Not a sweet smile – this was playful and seductive. Hmm, was that an invitation?
I finished my joint, and after a while, I decided to join the dancing. Techno blasted – not really my style, I prefer house or electro, but techno is having a global resurgence. Funny how everything moves in cycles and repeats.
My friend Irene was sitting with her husband Richard in the corner, watching me dance. Then she gave me a huge grin because, from behind, my new acquaintance started dancing with me. She looked deep into my eyes as she moved closer and closer.
She only danced for one song before taking my hand and pulling me into the kitchen. She led me to the darkest corner, between the fridge and the wall. I love women who know what they want and go for it. We kissed, and she pressed herself tightly against me.
She was in control, pinning me to the wall as we kissed. Her hands explored me, slipping under my shirt, then moving to my waist. She slowly unbuckled my belt and slid down to her knees. Unbelievable. I thought this would be another dull art opening – what a night!
The dance floor was just next door, and people constantly walked through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. Could they see us? Honestly, I didn’t care. I was turned on, and she knew exactly how to play me.
Then, suddenly, she stood up. “Be right back,” she said, disappearing into the living room. I was left alone in my corner with my pants undone. What now? Should I get dressed or wait? Someone walked past me to the bathroom, so I decided to pull my pants back up.
I waited in the corner for her to return, but she didn’t. Eventually, I went back to the living room. Irene gave me a questioning look. I shrugged. Then I saw her – my girl – dancing with another guy. Very intimately, almost like she danced with me earlier.
And now they were kissing. Seriously? What the hell was going on? I wanted to leave. Then she caught my eye. She kept dancing with him, but she looked at me with a playful smile and gestured for me to stay.
I danced near her for a while, watching. She and the guy stood to the side, her arms around him, her head on his shoulder, while she grinned at me. What a tease. Then the guy left. She wasted no time coming back to me.
We danced silently before she led me back to the kitchen.
“Who was that? Do you think that’s okay?” I asked.
“That was my boyfriend,” she replied.
“Your boyfriend? And now?”
“Let’s go to the bathroom. We’ll have privacy there,” she suggested.
We locked the door, and things escalated quickly. We were wild, forgetting everything around us. People banged angrily on the door, desperate to use the bathroom, but we didn’t care. Techno pounded from outside, masking her loud moans.
When we were done, she hurriedly fixed her skirt and blouse, checking her reflection in the mirror. “I need to get back to my boyfriend,” she explained.
“Ah, so no time for questions or explanations,” I replied.
“Come see me at the bar sometime,” she said with a grin before I kissed her one last time and opened the door.
Outside, a couple of annoyed people were waiting to use the bathroom. She slammed the door shut again.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“My boyfriend’s two best friends are out there,” she said, panicking.
“Well, that’s your problem,” I said, slipping through the door. It closed firmly behind me.
I walked past the guys, grinning. Then I found Irene to say goodbye. It was time to go home.
Or maybe I’d stop by Coyote Ugly for one more drink?
